Revisiting Seoul – Food Diary

flagThis is my 2nd time visiting Seoul, and 3rd time planning for it.  My first trip to Korea was a 10 days trip in 2014; we visited Jeju Island and Seoul. Unfortunately, I injured my leg on the 3rd day of the trip while conquering Hallasan. I guessed Hallasan conquered me instead as I was in cast for the next 7 days.

The plan was to visit Seoul again the following year. Due to the MERS outbreak, the trip was cancelled and went to Japan instead.

airportNothing is going to stop us – my 3rd try to visit Seoul.

When you have planned to visit a place for so many times, you just get lazier and lazier and eventually skipped all the planning. That’s what happened to us – we packed and off we go!

Let’s start with the food. Yums!

Left to right (clockwise): Chicken Galbi, Budae Jjigae (Army Stew), Seafood Lunch at Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market, Korean BBQ

If you are interested to visit Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market, the place is quite accessible. I personally feel that the place was slightly over-hyped, and it was really more for the experience.

Left to right (clockwise): Top view of the Fish Market, The seafood stall that we bought our seafood, At the restaurant waiting for the rest of the food to be served

The process to buy the seafood and get them prepared is very simple. 1) Choose the stall you like and buy the seafood you want. 2) The stall owner will bring you to a restaurant to prepare the food. Veolia! It is important to note that you will have to pay twice; to the stall owner for the purchase and to the restaurant for the preparation.

More food…

Left to right (clockwise): Bibimbap, Sausage Hotpot, Korean Fried Chicken, Ramen Soup with Rice Ball

Eating Korean fried chicken in Korea is the best thing ever! You would have already guessed that there was no way we (2 ladies) can finished 2 big plates of fried chicken – the one on the left was coated with cheese powder, the other was  with hot sauce. We packed the unfinished chicken and brought home for supper. The chicken remained crispy and flavorful even after 4 hours. 2 thumbs up!

Desserts to end off this post.

Left to right (clockwise): Injeolmi, Holly Coffee, Hand-brewed coffee, No queue Bake Cheese Tart

To be continued….
